Good quality church pews for sale: three sizes available.
St Thomas, the parish church in Stanhope, has been undergoing major reordering work. Dry rot was discovered in some of the flooring during Covid, so we have had to remove and dispose of the pews and flooring that was damaged. Given how extensive the work would be, we took the opportunity to put in stone floors, with underfloor heating. This will make the interior space warmer, and more welcoming for visitors. We are also making the church building more accessible (and versatile) for community events by removing some pews and replacing them with cathedral style seating. We are keeping some pews… but others are available to buy.
The pews are pitched pine, and have had the ends removed to allow storage. They will be sold with their pew ends, except for the few which were originally against a wall.
Short pews (approx 1.8m), £60 minimum donation – very limited numbers of these.
Regular pews (approx 2.4m), £55 minimum donation.
Long pews (approx 3.4m), £45 minimum donation.
We are planning to have a single day of sale when pews can be bought and taken away same-day. Buyers must be able to take the pews away with them because we will be removing the storage container. Cash only. Sold as seen. Contact Churchwardens Carol Richardson or Elaine Watson for more details.
